gaeltalk.net/business was developed to help people within the
workplace to converse through the medium of Irish. We have taken every
day situations and conversations and created the dialogue that allows
the student to practise the basic conversation that is required, to
deal with the situation. One of the most useful and valuable features
of gaeltalk.net/business is the speech "bubbles" that allows you to
listen and hear how to pronounce the dialogue.
The course, to date, has been developed to showcase what can be done
using modern day technology. If you have ongoing training issues within
your Department, why not have gaeltalk.net/business, design a training course
specific to your department. The course would be available on-line
for your department, password protected to ensure confidentiality
and authorised use only. By customising the course, it contains terminology
relevant to your department and can be used on an on-going basis to
help existing staff but also as a training tool for new recruits.
Module one has been developed with answering the phone as the
main focus. Regardless of what agency or department you work for,
the principles and the terminology remain the same. The only part
of the dialogue that requires changing is the name of the section
you work for. The module is given added value by the inclusion of
additional vocabulary, grammar and useful tips on answering the telephone.
Module two moves onto to deal with requests for information
and how to deal with the query and give the advice that is sought.
The dialogue is backed with vocabulary, grammar and information on
how to send professional e-mails.
Module three concentrates on the library, whether it is a public
library or a resource library for employees, the conversation remains
the same. Dealing with requests on sourcing particulars books and
references. The module is again reinforced with vocabulary, grammar
and useful information on how to deal with meetings.
Modules four concentrates on the Health
Board and the scenario that has been created is the admission of a
patient in to the hospital. Additional information is also provided
in the vocabulary and grammar section. Useful information on business
etiquette will help to ensure that you are fully equipped to deal
with all occasions.
Grammar is included in each module but is introduced
gradually to give the student the time to acclimatise to the language
and not overwhelm them with grammar.
Live sessions can be organised to speak to a
native speaker. The live session are conducted using voice conferencing
software. The student pre-books the session with the tutor, all the
information required is forwarded to the student prior to the session
commencing. The bonus of utilising the live sessions is the opportunity
to hear the sounds in real-time, ask questions regarding pronunciation,
practise speaking Irish in an encouraging and non-threatening environment.
Diligent study will enable you to apply these
fundamentals of the Irish language constructively. After completing
this course, you will be able to continue improving your speaking
and comprehension skills through either more advanced courses and/or
independent study.
